Pretty Girl - Part I
David: Surry Hills, Australia
Newhaven Pretty Girl really has lived a charmed life, which began as a wild brumby foal on a station in the Australian Outback. While only weeks old, her mother died and Pretty Girl was found by the station owner dehydrated and laying beside her mothers body. He took pity on her and brought her home to be hand-raised.
When she was ready Pretty Girl was returned to the wild, however she always remembered the station owner and would visit him when he was sleeping at the house she was raised. Being hand-raised, she did not relate to the other wild horses very well and was a bit of a loner, until she met a bay colt who became her lifelong partner. This arrangement continued until Pretty Girl was about 15 years old - when the property was sold and all of the wild horses had to be removed. These were not just any wild horses however, they were Walers, the horses that had carried thousands of soldiers to war, and their bloodlines were valuable.

I just wanted to say something about a beloved horse of mine, Zazu. Zazu is a 5 year old chestnut gelding. He is 15.3hh. He wasn’t a very tame horse so the barn I ride at had to sell him because he didn’t make a good schooling horse. I knew him very well, we loved each other. I was the only person that could ride him properly. I love you Zazu.
